Privacy Policy

OpenMail is a browser extension that checks your Gmail accounts for unread mail and shows you a notification. This page explains what data the extension accesses, where it goes, and who can see it.

What the extension accesses

When you connect a Gmail account, the extension asks Google for permission to:

• See your email address, so it can label which account a notification belongs to.
• Read the subject line, sender, and a short preview snippet of unread messages, so it can show you a preview.
• Mark messages as read and move messages to Trash, but only when you click the corresponding button yourself.

This access happens directly between your browser and Google's servers, using Google's own sign-in and consent screen. The extension's developer never receives your Gmail password, and never sees your email content pass through any server the developer operates, because no such server exists. There is nothing "in the middle."

Where your data is stored

Everything the extension keeps, including which accounts you've connected, your access and refresh tokens, cached unread-message previews, and your notification sound preference, is stored locally in your own browser, using the browser's built-in extension storage (chrome.storage.local). None of it is transmitted to, or stored on, any server operated by the developer. If you uninstall the extension or clear its storage, this data is deleted.

Google API Services User Data Policy

OpenMail's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Donations

The optional "Donate to Support the Developer" button opens a Stripe-hosted payment page in a new browser tab. Payment details (card numbers, billing address, etc.) are entered directly on Stripe's page and handled entirely by Stripe. The extension and its developer never see or store your payment information.

Support requests

The "Tech Support" link opens your own email client addressed to support@oscarpoon.ca. Whatever you choose to write and send is received like any other email; nothing is sent automatically without you writing and sending it yourself.

What we don't do

• We don't sell or share your data with third parties.
• We don't use your email content for advertising.
• We don't run analytics or tracking scripts inside the extension.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that affects what data is accessed or how it's used, this page will be updated and the "Last updated" date above will change.
